Recharging (you and your battery) Inside Magic Kingdom
Disney is launching a whole new experience that is driven by using MyDisneyExperience a free app for your smartphone. It is a great planning tool to use before your visit and will help in everything from tracking dining reservations to keeping your Fast Pass selections in one place. More and more people are staying connecting while in the World and do everything from take photos, tweet updates on their trip, update Facebook statuses, check wait times with Unofficial apps or to use MyDisneyExperence. Being connected all the time means batteries on phones, tablets, and other wifi devices are draining faster than before so Disney is helping combat that situation by installing charging stations. Disney has gotten more creative than crawling under a table in a restaurant or sitting in the floor in some deserted hallway to be plugged into a precious power source. You can now charge your devices in more comfortable spots.
You will find charging stations in the stumps around the Tangled Themed bathrooms, this area is a great place for a rest break and is part of the immersive themed New Fantasyland. While you are in the area be sure to look for all the details that only Disney does, from the horseshoe prints on the ground to the basket of apples hanging on a tree for Rapunzel’s horse, Max.
Another great charging spot is inside the Dumbo Fast Pass Circus Tent in Storybook Circus. This area is a great place for to stop and enjoy a snack and a little downtime while you and your phone recharge. It is also shaded and near some great snack stands. There are tables and chairs available nearby the new charging station.
Disney has also added self service charging lockers in a few locations such as Cosmit Rays and the Space Mountain gift shop in Tomorrowland. You can unlock them with a credit card place your phone inside and lock it backup while it charges. There is no charge the card is only used to secure your phone and lock/unlock the door. Note they use a similar system in Disneyland and there is a charge, at this time this is still in testing so the free status could change. This is a great addition to the parks to keep you charged on the go.
If you are not near those locations or are just entering the park with a device that is already losing powers can drop your device and charger off at Town Hall on Main Street where a Cast Member will check in your phone. This is similar to a coat check in many restaurant, they will give you a ticket to come back to claim your phone when you are ready and charge it for you while you explore the parks.
As the MyDisneyExperience program continues to grow and is used by more guests Disney will be adding more charging stations in all its parks, be on the lookout for place to plug in on your next trip.
