Characterpalooza is a ‘random’ character appearance event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It has grown out of a way to kill time for performers between the parades and shows in the various parks and their time to perform for Fantasmic! . Although this event has taken place year round for several years now if asked Disney will deny its existence. It is an officially nonscheduled event that could not take place any day for any reason. Anytime Fantasmic! is performed after 7pm you should be on the lookout for Characterpalooza. You can meet and greet several characters with little to no lines in a short amount of time. These are more ‘rare’ characters and often include a few Villains as well as your classic Disney favorites. There are often two sets of greetings and characters can be the same or vary within those 2 sets starting at 4:30pm with the latest starting at 5:10pm. The location of palooza this summer began moving around, always inside the Animation Building before it has been in front of the hat, on the Streets of America, and around Echo Lake this summer.

On Saturday September 21st I decided to head back to Hollywood Studios to catch one of the character sets. I had just left Blizzard Beach and managed to arrive about 5 minutes till 5. I headed to Echo Lake the location for today’s second set and found a bench to wait. About 5:05 the first character appeared, my very favorite Captain Hook.
In the next 13 minutes I managed to meet and greet with all of these characters and get autographs from some. I skipped autographs from some that I have already gotten several times before. Sorry some of the pictures are not the best, there are no photopass photographers around and the Cast Members are not at a 1:1 ratio with the characters, being solo I had to wait for one to come back over and snap a picture for me.

With over 10 characters in under 15 minutes, Characterpalooza is the best bang for your buck character greeting wise. Be sure to be on the lookout when you are at Hollywood Studios for this opportunity.
